About

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”  -St. Augustine

I was born on an island (Philippines) and grew up on another one (US Territory of Guam) until I left to California for college. So, I largely attribute my desire to explore the world and not being able to cure this travel bug as a way to make up for all those years of confinement.

I was lucky enough that my husband mostly shared this wanderlust. We started traveling with our daughter when she was five months old 21 years ago. Five continents, over 60 countries and having raised two young adults later, we’re still traveling with them in tow.

We wanted to instill the love of travel and exploration into our children. We believe we’ve accomplished that when we see their joy in seeing famous monuments and attractions in real life and their interest in other cultures.

We aspired to teach our kids that there is a whole world waiting for them to learn from and discover.  Hence, the name of this website which was adapted from a favorite quote by St. Augustine.

One of the reasons I created this site was to use as a travelogue of our trips so our kids will have something to look back on beyond the pictures and souvenirs for memories. This is also about our experiences and lessons we’ve learned along the way and doing so on a budget (most of the time). We hope that our adventures and experiences can help other families and fellow travelers save time, money and sanity along the way.

Since I work full-time and juggle an active family, this site is a work in progress with posts about past and current trips. Whether it’s exploring our San Diego neighborhoods or a National Parkcruising or a vacation to a foreign country, we hope you can share these trips with us.  Safe and happy travels!
